Sping on Becky Lane

Home on Becky Lane / April 2008

Food is one of life's great joys.

Unfortunately:

Most of the food in the grocery stores these days is manufactured as an industrial product.

Huge machines snort clouds of diesel smoke as they rip open the earth to dump chemicals and poisons upon our food.

Crews of slave-wage immigrants labor in the fields, weeding, tending, harvesting - your food.

That industrial food is picked way before its peak of flavor and nutrition.

It is bred, not for flavor, but for uniformity and durability -

so that it can be shipped hundreds or thousands of miles, in another huge diesel powered machine.

It doesnt have to be that way:

Here on Becky Lane we do things very differently.

 My name is Sam McCumpsey.

I dont live very far from you. Suni, my wonderful significant other, and I live just outside of town on three acres of beautiful trees and flowers.

On Becky Lane I am the one who grows your food. I dont believe in slave labor.

I dont use petrochemical fertilizers. I dont spray poison onto your food. I use natural methods to grow and protect your food.

There are no tractors here, I do have two small tillers, but they arent used much. Most of the work is done by hand.

I bring my food to town in my little silver truck. It isnt pretty but it doesnt burn much fuel.

From the Garden to your plate is usually a trip of under twenty miles.

In this small quiet place, I hand craft beautiful, flavorful, healthful food for you and your family.

If you ever want to visit and see how I tend the Garden on Becky Lane, just send me an email and I will set you up a tour.
